A glossy showcase for Mensah, who wrote, directed, co-produced and stars as Sarah, a Ghanaian-American professional woman in New York, with a married white boyfriend and a sweary English mate. Her mother dies, back in Africa, but Sarah inherits her Christian bookshop (‘King of Glory’) in the Bronx and its sole employee, Hezekiah (Russell G. Jones), and decides to take them both on. Then her father (Oberon K.A. Adjepong) arrives, and cultural and familial confusions proliferate. Premiering at Tribeca film festival 2021, where it won a special jury award, Mensah's micro budget first feature has been praised by critics for its ambition and Ghanaian cultural specificity, with Mensah identified as a brilliant young debutante.

At its core, Mensah's tightly conceived, witty and compassionate dark comedy is a love letter to children of Ghanaian immigrants and to the Bronx, the borough in which she and her protagonist grew up
