Young Polish live-in career Wanda bring joy and havoc to the lakeside villa of an affluent Swiss family
Wanda (Agnieszka Grochowska) is the 35-year-old Polish carer of Josef, bedridden patriarch of the wealthy but dysfunctional Wegmeister-Gloor family. While they revel in their fabulous lakeside villa in Switzerland, she sends her wages home to her parents, who are looking after her children. As preparations for Josef’s 70th birthday loom, tensions break out. Viperish daughter Sophie (Birgit Minichmayr), with an eye on the family fortune, is suspicious of Josef and Wanda’s playful relationship, while timid son Gregi (Jacob Matschenz) is besotted with her. Matriarch Elsa (Marthe Keller) just wants a quiet life. Then something happens to Wanda that throws everything up in the air and makes rich and poor worlds collide. Shot entirely at the villa for added comic intensity

‘The pitch-perfect tension of the dialogue… and pregnant pauses that may or may not unearth secrets and lies, is carried off with aplomb by the gifted cast and strong direction
