Russell, a struggling actor and part-time drag performer (Thomas Duplessie), escaping a messy break-up, goes to see his cantankerous and deeply confused grandma (Cloris Leachman) in an old-fashioned Ontario town. He feels obliged to stay to help her out and, besides, she has money. He clashes with his mother, who isn’t keen on caring for the old lady either, and with local bigots, but finds comfort at the town’s only gay bar. Funny, sparky and provocative, with flamboyant lip sync routines from Russell’s alter ego Fishy Falters and a touching performance from Leachman in one of her final roles.
